Catella advised on the sale of a residential development site in Meilahti, Helsinki

The English School Foundation has sold a residential development site located in Meilahti, Helsinki. The site is currently occupied by The English School's school building. The school will relocate to new premises in August 2027. The buyer is the construction company SRV.

The site is covered by a new local detailed plan that enables the development of both an apartment building and urban townhouses. Located on Mäntytie, the plot has a total building right of 3,980 square metres. The property is situated in a highly valued and well-established residential area, characterized predominantly by buildings constructed in the 1940s and 1950s.

SRV has announced plans to develop approximately 40 residential units on the site.

The English School has operated in the Mäntytie school building since 1952. The school was originally founded by Catholic sisters from the United States. Today, it has approximately 700 students across preschool, primary, lower secondary and upper secondary levels. The school follows the Finnish National Curriculum. All educational levels will move to the new premises in Etelä-Haaga. The new school facilities are designed to accommodate 800 pupils and students.

In the transaction, Catella acted as financial advisor to The English School Foundation and Bird & Bird as legal advisor.
