Regulation meets reality: Paths to a climate-friendly future

Shaping the future of the construction and real estate industry together

Geopolitical tensions, volatile interest rate markets, and ambitious climate targets are bringing about profound changes in the construction and real estate industry. With the new EPBD directive and the goal of reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2040, the EU is sending a strong signal: the path to climate neutrality is irreversible—and urgent.

ESG – environmental, social, and corporate governance – provides the central frame of reference for the pressing issues of our time:

How do we reduce CO₂ in existing buildings?
How do we make meaningful use of digitalization and AI?
How do we secure financing and resilience?
How do we create sustainable business models for the future?

The answer: cooperation instead of isolation. Cooperation instead of competition.

Together with Susanne Eickermann-Riepe FRICS and Dr. Valerie Köcke, Klaus Franken will conduct a critical fact check in the first plenary session:

✅ What is the status of climate action implementation – aspiration vs. reality?

In addition:
✅ What are realistic paths to CO₂ reduction in the building sector?
✅ What about financing – bottleneck or enabler?

⏰ September 2 | 9:40–10:40 a.m. | “Climate protection between reality and responsibility – action is essential now”

We are delighted to be back and look forward to another exciting exchange, true to the motto “discuss, network, and shape the future together”!
