In Seestadt, Catella is building around 2,000 apartments as well as offices, a hotel and various service facilities at Mönchengladbach's main railway station and in the immediate vicinity of the city centre. This will create around 2,000 new jobs in a central location. The core of the project is a lake of approx. 20,000 m². Catella Project Management won the European-wide tendering procedure of the city of Mönchengladbach and is developing the area of the former freight station into an urban district.

The centrepiece of the project is a newly created lake of approx. 20,000 m², which contributes to improving the microclimate, serves as a retention basin, makes a contribution to the protection of species and, with its near-natural shore zones and promenades, offers citizens an attraction with a unique quality of stay close to the city centre.

Fact about the project

  • The New "Upper Kö" extends the green axis of the Kö-Graben and Graf- Adolf-place and creates new open spaces with quality of stay for employees.
  • Although the KöTower makes use of the prominence of the shopping mile, it avoids the impression of a closed-off office complex and instead makes use of the attractiveness of the open space and the exchange with other uses
  • High-quality gastronomy, retail, new office worlds, paired with a formative architecture create a new character that frames the Königsallee.
  • The KöTower and its surroundings stand for a diverse living space, which additionally harmonises a mixture with gastronomy, events, quiet zones, greenery - a new "place to be".
  • Kö-Bogen in the north, KöTower in the south - two different magnets between promenade and trendy
