Message from the CEO

At the beginning of a new year, it is quite common for the CEO to talk about how interesting and unusual the past year has been or how many unexpected events have characterized it. In my view it is the unexpected that is the essence of the financial markets.

To the financial reports

The difficulty to predict in advance what will happen and to be able to navigate waters which pretty much always have some sort of turbulence where uncertainty is one of natures' features. With facts in hand it is always apparent and obvious what should have been done in order to succeed well. It will always be like this. Had it been different, the attraction and the challenges of managing assets would not have been as appealing.

Portfolio management is about the information and knowledge you have to make the best of the situation. Try to do more good investment decisions than poor. To over time try to better than your competitors. One of your competitors is chance. Active management is to challenge chance. With your knowledge to prove that you are better than passive. We are currently aiming to improve our knowledge and in our plans, we aim to beat chance.

It takes time for a new CEO to settle into an existing organisation, get to know the employees and understand our products. I joined my new role at the end of the summer 2020 and now think I understand the company and the organisation well. We want to build a competitive portfolio management with good results from existing products together with a broader product portfolio.

We will shortly launch two property funds, one active fund and one index fund. The index fund is based on an index that we have developed together with the Catella group and NASDAQ. We want to offer an investment opportunity closer to a direct investment in property and we think that the index has a good probability of becoming industry standard. The index fund is unique in its focused exposure to property management and liquid public companies. Our property index fund is rules based and passive. To challenge our passive funds, we will let individuals with strong knowledge of the sector help us with the active fund. Can the active management beat the passive? Which of our two new funds will you choose to invest in?

Perhaps you decide to invest in both as it is difficult to know what the future holds. Join us during 2021. This is just the beginning.
